LAKE PLACID RENSHINKAN KARATE, LLC

A part of Lake Placid, FL since 2002

In 2002, Sensei Alex Heyman brought "Heyman's Martial Arts Academy" to Lake Placid. Hailing from Gainesville, Florida, Sensei Alex strove to enrich the lives of the boys and girls in and around the area - and he did. Heyman's Martial Arts Academy quickly became a hit, with boys, girls, men and women of all ages coming to train. 

In 2002, Michael Rios began training with Sensei Alex. After 10 years, at the age of 18, Michael became a Sensei, and Sensei Alex's protege. 

As time went on, Sensei Alex decided it was time to pass the punching bag to Sensei Michael, closing Heyman's Martial Arts Academy and officially becoming Lake Placid Renshinkan Karate in 2018, with Sensei Michael taking the lead. To this day, the two remain fast friends, working and teaching together on a daily basis.

Lake Placid Renshinkan Karate is located in the heart of Lake Placid, Florida, and reflects the vibrant energy of the area. Our home-grown Sensei's are ready and waiting to help students achieve their goals.
